When we get to the other side of the border the police saw us and we had to run very fast, but police reach us.
The policeman and the policewoman take us to the migrant office, but before we arrive a boy and a girl saved us.when this persons saved us we went directly to an office where we can make our passport.then we go to show our passport to the police. Then they return to a house were Hector talked another time with Sofia, he says that now he have a passport and she get happy.

Two persons show us some jobs and Saul decide to be an inventor, Mau decide to be a Robotic Engenier, and Chema a doctor. Since they were not discriminated they became productive people.

Story of migration by Julio, Leo, Diana, Luz, Dannie, Xime & Sofi

Story of migration

Long time ago in the 1940's in Mexico City, there was a group of Puerto Rican guys that wanted to cross the border and live in Canada because they didn't have a good life, they wanted to live in Canada because they wanted new oportunities, but they couldn't afford a plane bill, so they tried to find a cheaper way to get to Canada & they found a chicken truck. He asked to pay 100 pesos to cross them to Canada, they crossed the border in the chicken truck. In the way to Canada they were in the truck but they were really thirsty so they fainted. The policeman discovered them when they enter into Canada and they went to the jail. They stayed there two days and, at the third day a policeman opened the jail and they told the policeman that that is discrimination to them because they are from another country. And they wanted to be liberated. They found a hotel and they stayed there for one night. The next day they search a job, Hector found a job of drug dealer because no one wanted to hire him because he was from a different country & he had a different skin color and a different religion he was discriminated. Jose found a job of mason. They made their life alone.
One day Jose was fired of his job so he went to a magazine store to search for new jobs , so he bought a magazine named "All new"... And he started reading and when he turned the page ,he saw a face of his brother Hector with a post down that said "We are searching for this drug dealer who crossed the border without visa & he escaped" he was really worried and he asked the woman of the magazines if she has seen this argument before and she was surprised but she was a nice person so she didn't say anything... She kept the secret, and she also invite him to drink a coffee an be accept... They were talking about how they passed to Canada & why.... Both had some same reasons why they moved to Canada... Well after 3 hours to be chatting they said goodbye and they wished luck to themselves.

2 weeks later...

Hector because of his job, was searching for millionaires.. To steal them, Then a multimillionaire called Leo went with his dog to the park but in the way Hector assault him and then Jose saved Leo. Hector escaped and he say to his chief that Jose defend Leo and the chief send Hector to kill Jose but Hector didn't want to kill Jose. Hector go with Jose and they go to the police station to have job but the police say not because they are brown men and they are from other country and don't have his papers. They were sad because they don't have the enough money to go to again to Puerto Rico. So they started a new life on Canada, but it was different than before because now they were legal and now they were accepted by everyone... Because they explain all people in Canada that they were equal but special & unique way... And they all are humans not aliens and they all deserve respect.. And from that day to now... Or as far I can see there is respect in Canada cause now Canada is a multicultural country.

Monach Butterflies by Diana and Julio

1- The cycle is first the egg second the larvae then the pupa and finally a butterfly. Like all insects, the monarch has six legs, but uses the four hindlegs as it carries its two front legs against its body. The eggs are creamy white and later turn pale yellow. They are elongated and subconical, with about 23 longitudinal ridges and many fine traverse lines.A single egg weighs about 0.46 mg (0.0071 gr), and measures about 1.2 mm (47 mils) high and 0.9 mm (35 mils) wide. 2- They it many things the most things that are eaten by the butterflies is the nectar and : Apocynum cannabinum - Indian hemp Asclepias californica - California milkweed Asclepias incarnata - swamp milkweed Asclepias syriaca - common milkweed Asclepias tuberosa - butterfly weed Aster sp. - asters Cirsium sp. - thistles Daucus carota - wild carrot Dipsacus sylvestris - teasel Erigeron canadensis - horseweed Eupatorium maculatum - spotted joe-pye weed Eupatorium perfoliatum - common boneset Hesperis matronalis - dame's rocket Medicago sativa - alfalfa Solidago sp. - goldenrod Syringa vulgaris - lilac Trifolium pratense - red clover Vernonia altissima - tall ironweed 3- They migrate because the air transport the cold and the butterflies died. And the They migrate of Canada to united estates and then Mexico. Monarchs are especially noted for their lengthy annual migration. In North America, they make massive southward migrations starting in August until the first frost. A northward migration takes place in the spring. The monarch is the only butterfly that migrates both north and south as the birds do on a regular basis, but no single individual makes the entire round trip. Female monarchs deposit eggs for the next generation during these migrations. 4- Their principal enemies. Although monarchs feed on milkweed, variations in the quantity of cardiac glycosides exist between species, individuals, and even parts of the host plant. The levels of toxins in adult monarchs reflect the levels in their host plants. This means some monarchs are not foul-tasting, but are Batesian or automimics. Some species of predators have learned to measure the toxins by taste and reject butterflies with high cardiac glycosides contents, eating only the ones with low contents. In the butterfly, the cardiac glycosides are concentrated in the abdomen and wings. Some species of predators differentiate these parts and consume only the most palatable ones.Bird predators include brown thrashers, grackles, robins, cardinals, sparrows, scrub jays and pinyon jays. 5- They are called Monarch Buterfflies because Monarch means King, or Queen. The early North American settlers called them King Billys, after William of Orange, who became the English King in 1689. 6- Is very magic and very big the color is orange and the female have more black than the male, the female butterfly is more big than the male . 7-The persistence of the monarch butterfly’s spectacular and unique migratory phenomenon is dependent on the conservation of habitats in Canada, the United States, and Mexico. No species better symbolizes the ecological links among the three countries. Many government agencies, organizations, and individuals across Canada are working on projects to conserve monarch habitats and the migration phenomenon. 8-They make massive southward migrations starting in August until the first frost. A northward migration takes place in the spring the migration end in October. 9- A sanctuary is a place that are protected by the police or the people Some examples are the sanctuaries of Canada ,United States and Mexico. 10-By the end of October, the population east of the Rocky Mountains migrates to the sanctuaries of the Mariposa Monarca Biosphere Reserve within the Trans-Mexican Volcanic Belt pine-oak forests in the Mexican states of Michoacán and México. The western population overwinters in various sites in central coastal and southern California, United States, notably in Pacific Grove, Santa Cruz, and Grover Beach. 11- The problems are that in the migration more 10,000 died the 14% died because the birds eat the butterflies and ones disappear because they lost in the migration. 12-Other animals that migrate are birds, frogs, fishes, and deer.

Monarch Butterflies by Sofia, Hector, and Angel.

Monarch Butterflies By Sofia, Hector and Angel. 1-. What is the life cycle of Monarch butterflies? Monarch mother laid a few days ago an egg on a milkweed leaf. Then that egg turns into a small larva, then that larva becomes big , then that larva turns into a pupa (a pupa is like a little bag where the metamorphosis continues), then in the pupa the larva develop & then it goes out and became a beautiful butterfly! 2-. What do they eat? Monarch butterfly enjoy the natural juices from fruits like bananas, oranges and especially watermelon, which is a very juicy fruit,Monarch butterflies also drink the nectar from a variety of plants. Nectar is a sweet, sugary liquid produced in plants. Monarch butterflies are also attracted to the nectar from flowers like lilacs and golden rods. 3-. Why do they migrate? Monarch butterflies feel the chill in the air. While we adapt by putting on a sweeter , the situation is much more serious for the monarchs. Temperatures below 55°F make it impossible for them to fly; temperatures below 40°F paralyze them. The monarchs originated in the tropics and can't live for long at temperatures below freezing. So thats why they come to Mexico... Because they search for warm climates. 4-. Principal enemies? The principal enemies of the Monarch Butterflies are Predators such as spiders and ants attack eggs and young larvae feeding on milkweed. 5-. Why are they called Monarch Butterflies? Monarch means King, or Queen so they are like the Queen/king of all the butterflies. 6-. Principal features The monarch needs no camouflage because it is poisonous to predators; in fact, its vivid colors are designed to ward off critters that may want to eat it. The monarch is poisonous because the developing larvae ingest toxins from the milkweed plant as they feed on the leaves. (information: Wikipedia, monarchfacts.pdf & monarchlab) CANADA 1-. What is done by the government to protect these insects? Many government agencies, organizations in Canada are working on projects to conserve monarch habitats and the migration phenomenon. 2-. Route taken The population east of the Rocky Mountains migrates to the sanctuaries of the Mariposa Monarca Biosphere Reserve within the Trans-Mexican Volcanic Belt pine-oak forests in the Mexican states of Michoacán and México. The western population overwinters in various sites in central coastal and southern California, United States, notably in Pacific Grove, Santa Cruz, and Grover Beach. 3-. When it begins & ends? The monarch migration usually starts in about April of each year, but can start earlier if the weather turns cold sooner than that & it ends on October. 4-. What is a sanctuary? A Sanctuary is a place where animals can come to live and be protected or the rest of their lives. It’s a safe haven, where they receive the very best care possible. 5-.Sanctuaries in Canada The most famous sanctuary Poin Pelee National Park 407 RR1 Monarch lane, leamington, ON 6-. Main problems during the migration The main problem during the migration is that the weather can change in some other places so if they rest a little bit there and the weather turns cold... The butterflies can die. 7-. Other Animals that migrate African Elephant: It migrates to find food during the wet and drys seasons. American Buffalo: The American Buffalo is the heaviest land animal in North America. American Golden Plover: The American Golden Plover is a medium-sized shorebird. Arctic Tern: A small bird that flies from the Arctic to the Antarctic and back again each year.

Monarch Butterfly by Ximena and Saul

The life of the monarch butterfly is divided in 4 steps: egg, larva, pupa and adult.
Monarch butterflies, when they are adult, eat nectar, water and liquids from fruits. These butterflies migrate to Mexico because they are not able to survive in the cold days of winter.

The monarch butterflies do have some enemies like the birds, mice and some insects that usually est those butterflies. Another enemy of these species and the most important and destructive is the human, they sometimes destroy the habitats of these insects.
Nobody really knows the reason of the name that has been giben to these amazing insects but there are some theories like that they are called "monarch butterflies" because they are so large and they just look majestic.

The government of Canada do campaigns to protect and keep save the places where these majestic insects live.

These amazing insects travel from US and Canada to Mexico, some of the sates that they come from are: Washington, Minnesota, North Dakota,Ontario

The migration of this marvelous kind of insects starts August and ends until the first frost. During this time, butterflies travel

There are places where this type of butterflies get when they migrate, this places are called sanctuaries. A sanctuary is a sacred place, this places are sacred because of the animals that live in it.
For example, one of this sanctuaries is the Point Pelee Park which is located in Ontario, Canada.

Some of the problems suffered by these butterflies during migration are:

*This kind of butterflies cannot fly if their body temperature is less than 86 degrees.

They could perhaps instead be thought of as Nature's way of preventing butterfly populations from getting out of control - if they were not kept in check, the populations would rapidly expand and would quickly deplete all available food resources, ultimately leading to their own demise. 5-.Why are they called monarch butterflies They are called because of their predomination of many insects and their colors. 6.-They travel from canada through u.s.a and then they end in mexico. 7.-it began on october 22 and ends in ends of February and beginings of March. 8.- a santuary is a place made specially for a specie to protect it. 9.-there is a santuary in Mexico where evey year the butterflies come to hibernate and is located in Michoacan,Puebla. 10.-By the many variations of temperatures, some butterflies die during the travel to Mexico by cold. 11.-Elephants,bears,dolphins,manatees,bat,birds,crab,gnu,goose,whañes,etc. Daniel and Chema. :D
