Pastorelas

Pastorelas In Other Countries🌎

The word pastorela comes from the Old French "pastourelle", because it have Shepards. The pastourelle is very different form the pastorela, it is about love.

In France, a nativity crib is often used to decorate the house.
Another tradition in France is that at Christmas time they eat 13 different desserts with different type of fruit in each one. "Santa Clause" is called "Père Noël" (Father Christmas).

French cribs have clay figures in them. During December some towns and cities, such as Marseilles, have fairs that sell Nativity figures. In French Merry Christmas is "Joyeux Noël".

The History Of The "Yule Log"

The custom of burning the Yule Log goes back to before medieval times. It was originally a Nordic tradition.Yule is the name of the old Winter Solstice festivals in Scandinavia and other parts of northern Europe, such as Germany.

France is very different from Mexico, because of the food they eat,the way they celebrate their festivals
In conclusion, the pastourelle has nothing to do with religion as the pastorela does.
We can't find the characters of the "Reyes Magos" in French.
